SINGAPORE, APRIL 16, 2024 – Ken Energy, a company that focuses on developing and implementing green energy solutions, announced a significant collaboration and angel investment in Green COP, a deep-tech start-up in sustainable fuel solutions.

At the Singapore Maritime Week 2024 Expo@SMW trade exhibition, Ken Energy and Green COP formalised their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement underscores their shared commitment to enhancing biobutanol utilisation in maritime operations, focusing on operational feasibility, life cycle assessment, and carbon emissions reduction when used on current conventional vessels.

Ken Energy's dedication to creating sustainable energy solutions, prioritising emissions reduction and environmental stewardship, aligns seamlessly with Green COP's mission to revolutionise the biofuel industry. Leveraging innovative technologies, Ken Energy aims to drive the transition towards a greener future. This strategic collaboration not only supports Ken Energy's sustainability goals but also its aim of fostering local innovation and start-up entrepreneurship.

Green COP, a PIER71TM start-up alumni and top 3 winner of its Smart Port Challenge in 2022, specialises in producing sustainable biofuels from plant-based biowaste through a patented process. Their biofuels, boasting a shelf life exceeding 24 months and reducing NOx emissions by 30%, offer a compelling solution for transitioning to sustainable marine fuels (SMF).

Desmond Chong, Managing Director of Ken Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "This strategic partnership underscores our commitment to sustainability. With our expertise in marine transportation logistics, we aim to accelerate the commercial adoption of biofuels by the transportation industries."

Dr. Hanson Lee, CEO & Co-founder of Green COP, emphasised the significance of industry support in achieving their goals, stating, "We are heartened by the support of industry stewardship and knowledge. With our recent fundraise and partnerships with like-minded partners, we are on schedule in setting up a pre-commercial production plant. We should witness the production of our first tonne of biofuels in the 3rd quarter of 2024."

The collaboration between Ken Energy and Green COP represents a landmark moment in the journey towards a more sustainable future in the maritime and transportation sectors. By combining expertise, innovation, and industry leadership, both companies are poised to drive positive change and make a lasting impact on global sustainability efforts.
