Phase 1 at Green COP’s Kluang facility, now concluded, provided a testbed for optimising and validating key process technologies.

SINGAPORE, FEBRUARY 26, 2026 — Green COP, a technology enabler converting agricultural waste into biobutanol, has successfully completed Phase 1 of its pre-commercial collaboration with IOI at the Kluang facility, achieving its initial objectives of process optimisation and technical validation.

Phase 1 marked an important milestone in Green COP’s scale-up journey. The collaboration provided a real-world pre-commercial testbed for the company’s pretreatment and fermentation technologies, enabling optimisation of critical process parameters and verification of system robustness beyond laboratory conditions. With these objectives achieved, operations at the Kluang facility have now concluded, representing the successful completion of this stage and advancing Green COP toward its next phase of development and commercial readiness.

The completion of Phase 1 strengthens Green COP’s technical track record and supports its broader growth roadmap, positioning the company for expanded pilot deployments and future commercial partnerships. The collaboration with IOI has established a strong technical foundation, and both parties will continue discussions on potential next steps as Green COP progresses its scale-up plans.

In line with its development strategy, Green COP is consolidating R&D activities at its new advanced facility in Singapore. The upgraded infrastructure offers integrated process capabilities and expanded technical resources to accelerate optimisation and commercial deployment readiness.

Dr. Hanson Lee, CEO of Green COP, said, “Phase 1 allowed us to validate and optimise our process in a real-world pre-commercial environment, confirming the robustness and scalability of our technology. Centralising R&D at our Singapore facility enables us to accelerate development and further advance our technology in a more sophisticated and integrated environment.”

Green COP also highlighted its engagement with Breakthrough Energy Fellows, whose global network and expertise in supporting the scaling of climate technologies provide strong ecosystem alignment as the company progresses its technology development and prepares for future commercial deployment.

Mr. Ryan Lee, Deputy General Manager, Group Operations of IOI, said, “The collaboration delivered valuable insights into converting agricultural residues into higher-value applications, supporting IOI’s broader efforts in sustainable resource utilisation and circular practices across the agri-value chain.”

Green COP expressed appreciation for IOI’s collaboration in achieving this Phase 1 milestone, which has laid a strong technical foundation for the company’s continued scale-up and future commercial deployment.
