- Scope 1: Synthetic Biology & Strain Engineering
• Develop and optimize synthetic biology tools for enhanced cellulolytic enzyme expression.
• Engineer high-performance fermentation strains to improve biofuel yields and process efficiency.
• Construct synthetic microbial consortia for consolidated bioprocessing of biomass waste.
Scope 2: R&D Facility Setup & Feedstock Screening
• Lead the design and setup of bench-scale bioreactors and analytical instrumentation.
• Review and refine feedstock screening protocols; establish benchmarks for composition and process suitability.
Scope 3: Biomass Pretreatment Optimization
• Design and oversee biomass pretreatment trials, including temperature, pH, and chemical loading conditions.
• Analyze sugar yields, byproduct generation, and inhibitor profiles for process optimization.
Scope 4: Fermentation Process Development
• Define and optimize fermentation strategies to maximize productivity and conversion efficiency.
• Support scale-up planning and assess techno-economic feasibility for commercial applications.
Scope 5: Downstream Process Validation
• Evaluate bench-scale separation and purification techniques.
• Recommend scalable downstream workflows based on recovery yields and product purity.
Requirements
- We’re looking for talented researchers with a strong academic background and a passion for translating science into real-world impact.:
• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Expertise in one or more of the following: biomass conversion, metabolic engineering, fermentation process development, or CBP.
• Experience leading R&D projects, preferably with exposure to scale-up or industry collaboration.
• Strong grasp of laboratory and pilot-scale safety practices and environmental compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Passion for sustainability and a strong interest in technology translation and commercialization.
